Currently I am roughly halfway through cleaning my bookshelf to make room for witchy crafts! So far a few ideas I’ve had are handmade tea bags and pressed flower art, but what else should I try?

I like embroidery. Embellish your clothes. Stitch powerful words and designs. Decorate your walls, your bags, your shoes. Anything you can push a needle and thread through!

I feel like anything to do with fermentation or mycology is very witchy! I like making kombucha at home, but beer, cider, mead, pickles, sauerkraut, or wine would be fun as well. And growing any kind of mushrooms just seems like magic.

I like collecting cool mushrooms! Dry them just like flowers.

Cross stitching, drawing plants and flowers (I have an awesome book on drawing detailed botanical linework I’ve started poking at), and jewelry making right now. I may customize some clothing and learn embroidery later (time for hidden sigils and charms).

I’ve also always collected neat things off the ground since childhood. I have a lot of pretty feathers, pressed four or more leaved clovers, and neat rocks.

i like to knit. i made a pillow to place a representation of my deity upon, and filled it with cotton balls, money, and bones. that way, the pillow and representation can function as an altar on their own in a pinch

I use my ritual time to write in a book of shadows, burn letters that contain things I dont want to carry with me, and I really like using a mortar and pestle to grind ingredients. I also have a special washbasin that I clean ritual objects with.

For me it is about taking the time out to create or change things. Journaling is about reflecting on what I want and need. Some of the writing magic is stuff that had direct parallels to cognative behavioral therapy, like things I am grateful for, my fears, my anger, and then burning them, or reflecting on what I want and need and keeping those goals and thoughts in a journal. Reflection, mindfulness, and meditation have scientifically proven benefits, the trappings for mine just happen to be pagan.

One witchy thing I have taken a liking to is taking ingredients and grinding them in the mortar and pestle. The ingredients symbolize things I want or don’t want, or things I am working to control. Lavender and rose smell amazing when crushed, various wood chips take time and care and are a bit annoying so I can take time to think about what the plant represents. I am also known to grind stones that can be ethically gathered or disposed of, like calcite or quartz for an extra crunchy powerful feel. On a more practical “kitchen witch” level I also do cooking ingredients in a separate mortor and pestle like spices, salt or sugar. I can then cook with the food ingredients, and dispose of the non food ingredients various places like using them for plant food, or tossing the powder in a fire.

You get out of ritual/magic what you put into it.

I also do things during ritual like cooking or cleaning or crafting – they are made special by the atmosphere and intentions placed into them.

The act of purifying objects is a ritual in itself. I tend to use things that are already around the house, but then reserve for special use. I purchased them because I like them, but didn’t use them much until I opted to set them aside for ritual, both reducing the consumption, and making the objects special.

Witchcraft can be a lifestyle or something you only occasionally do.

I carve wands. I’ve posted a bunch over in r/Witch_Crafts, if you want to see. I also tie dye altar cloths with all natural dyes made from my plants, paint items and occasionally pour candles.

Sewing. Because wearing clothes I feel powerful in has been the most healing thing for me since moving thousands of km away from family…

Botanical illustration! 🌱I’ve gone through phases where I’d study something different everyday (plants, animals, tea, elements, planets, etc). I’d fill a journal with illustrations (usually in pen) and writing based on my learnings. You can also attach things like teabags or other magical items.

I also love drawing or painting on clothes / accessories with fabric markers and fabric paint. Denim jackets and tote bags are good canvases. You can also paint a box to fill with comforting items. Or make your own stickers with sticker paper!

Crocheting is something I really want to do. I’d like to make a little garden of crochet frogs, mushrooms, and flowers. 🐸🍄

If you read up some first, candle making can be kind of fun. I enjoyed making sand candles at the beach in my youth. But a small candle making set-up is quite cheap. Just read up first. BB.
