I’ve been learning tarot for about six months now, and I find that many times I’d like to practice or play with my cards, but I don’t have anything important to ask. I’ve tended to go for my deck with super important questions. What are some ways you use your deck in the regular day-to-day? I’m hoping for some more creative answers than just daily card pulls and “what’s my day/week going to look like?” I’m also interested in using my deck to help me progress spiritually, so if anyone has any tips for that, I’d also like to know!

I like to switch up my routine readings by asking questions like “how will people perceive me this week? Why?” or “what does my future self (end of the week/month/year self) want me to know?” I also routinely ask specifically what my spirit guides/higher self want me to know at the moment. I get a whole range of answers from what going to happen in the near future to what needs healing in my life.

I like to ask “what message do I need to hear / what message is the Universe sending me?”

And then really listen to your intuition to figure out what the card(s) mean in your life.

I do a variation of my daily/weekly pull that says “what do I learn this week? ”

I pulled justice today and pulled it also in my weekly lesson. It was a lesson in balance and recognizing that it was time to close the door on people who do not give what they take from my energy and focus.

I like to ask the tarot to tell me a story when I’m in the mood to just mess with my cards or practice. Its a lot of fun and helps work those intuitive muscles in a different way!

I mainly use tarot for shadow work. Sometimes monthly, sometimes multiple times in a month.

I like to ask very vague questions about deep troubles I’m having- especially when I’m feeling confused about direction, meaning, etc. I find the Celtic cross to be really great at giving answers to these broad questions.

In some ways, I’ve begun focusing more on what the spread details rather than the question though. I feel this can give a really good result for how someone personally interprets things.

I’ve kind of decided tarot (for me) is all about finding an new perspective in the cards. See things from a different angle and new routes are clearer. I feel it provides a map. And I find the “me” cards in many spreads to be an indicator of whether the question you asked was the right question to get to the answer you either actually need or only think you need. I find that the card within a spread that represents fears/hopes/desires to provide a wealth of info. What we fear is often what we really desire.

Looking at tarot through this framework has helped me decide which questions to ask and how to ask them.

On the occasions that I don’t, like for instance when I did a spread in late December regarding the Saturn Jupiter conjunction and what this new beginning and end will bring me, I was unable to properly interpret the cards. In hindsight, I see a exactly what they were telling me. So, even though I don’t possess the intuition to interpret more universal or impersonal readings, I trust that I will gain this through the knowledge I get in hindsight.

There’s something to gain from any question asked. I think time can be needed to realize that gain however.

Depends on the reading but, mostly just what am I not paying attention to within myself or what message do the ancestors have for me at this time.

I like to do 2-card pulls for specific projects or plans. They don’t need to be Huge Life Plans, maybe just an upcoming work meeting or the next step in a creative project with friends, stuff like that.

I’ll visualise my desired outcome and then ask the cards:

    (1) What might be interfering/blocking my desired outcome?

    (2) What do I need to know to push past the block and achieve that outcome?

I find it helps me get a fresh perspective on whatever I’m working on by calling my attention to other aspects of the project or plan that maybe I wasn’t considering because I was too focused on one area. And sometimes it even helps me see that my “desired” outcome might not be the “best” outcome in light of other aspects of the situation!

Thanks for asking this question! Lots of great ideas in this thread, I look forward to trying them myself! ????????

Lee Harris has an energy overview for 2021:

    [Releasing 2020 and Welcoming 2021](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY2hw_FLckE)

In this video he suggested that a good daily self-care practice is to ask “what does my soul want to tell me today?” So I have been asking this question and then pulling a tarot card. It seems to be working pretty well.

If you check out the tarot forums, there are many posts with different kinds of practice questions like [this](https://www.cultoftarotforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=232&t=2787) one.

I try to clean up unfinished business from previous readings. Like “we were talking about me helping xyz, what does that look like?”
