I find myself asking some of the same questions over and over again and I find I just want to switch it up. What are some of your favorite questions to ask your deck?

My favorite is simply ,”What do I need to know today?”.

Or, “What do I need to know about x situation?” (Fill in with concern at hand)

“What will be my strengths this upcoming week/month and what will be my weaknesses” “what can I do to help myself overcome the weaknesses”

Sometimes, I use my deck for shadow work. So often, I’ll draw two cards and use that as a prompt for the shadow work topic. Or if I already have a topic, I’ll then ask things like what am I not seeing about this, what is at the root of this, or how is this manifesting itself in my day to day, etc.

I love to use Start/Stop/Continue as that can be used in any area of life.

I use tarot in my spellwork so there’s a lot of that going on on the side.

Then if I’ve got something really specific I’m gunning for that’s when all the how, why, when, what questions come out. How can I make this happen? Why do I want this to happen so badly? When will I know that I am ready? What can I do to get myself there?

Open ended questions means the sky is the limit with tarot.

What do I need to know right now?

What should I be focusing on at this time?

What are some things I can be looking to work on next?

Some of my favorites, asked separately of course: What can I anchor in today, week or month? Anything I should be aware of today? If so, how can I ground my energy? What can I work on? Where have I grown?

As a reader who really only digs out a deck when I’m feeling very curious and receptive, I usually ask about a specific relationship, either with myself, a fear of mine, or another particular person. For example I might phrase it “what is my current relationship with [death, my partner, my anger]?”

And I normally do a three card spread. The first card is responsible for answering my question, the other two I use as context providers and/or as suggestion-outcome.

I rarely ever do readings for myself. Of course being psychic and not just a card reader, I do get the unsolicted messages/predictions etc from spirit. As far as reading cards when I do pull for myself I just go with the flow and let it be general. At the most I may ask what do I need to do to move forward with something, what do I need to hear at this time, questions about how to keep using my psychic abilities to help others, things like that.

How do I see myself, and how does the universe see me?

Early on I started learned the popular ten card (Celtic Cross) spread, so I could have something sturdy to use instead of staying board lol. I think it could be a useful one to learn since it is detailed and so widespread – that’s my preference, though.

Then I ask “for a picture layout of my life as it is right now/ what is the path before me like right now?”
For a younger witch, I would recommend including shorter time segments like “what is this next week like/what do I need” (to help stay grounded, which is harder for the young.)

I don’t typically ask questions. When I do a reading it’s usually a general assessment of my current situation, what lead to it, and what may be the outcome.

Maybe I’m fortunate that I don’t have things to really worry about enough to have to ask specific questions.

“What do I need to know?” Is a favorite when I can’t think of a question. Half the time the answer is “find some balance and use your common sense” which, yeahhhhh, but hyperfixation go brrr

    horoscopes are great actually!

whenever it’s a transit that concerns me (e.g. a lunar return, mines cancer moon) i usually jot down the general themes with a lunar return + natal chart, pull 2 or 3 cards, and ask “how should i move/act in regards to x y z themes?” or “what should i keep in mind this lunar return?”

i dont use tarot for the prediction aspect though, im pretty bad at interpreting predictions. i use them for general advice in conjunction with my charts.

I have a four-card reading I do from time to time when I can’t think of anything else:

    1) Where am I? This usually shows me an area of my life that I need to address.

    2) What is hindering me? This can be a circumstance or belief

    3) Where is this going? The general trajectory.

    4) Who can help me? People, skills or resources.

This is a fairly loose, intuitive reading: I usually work out quickly what the main topic is (Card 1), and interpret everything else in that light. The rest of the time (90%?), I use a mixture of interesting spreads I come across in books or on the Internet (Reddit, Youtube, whatever), spreads on specific topics that I’ve googled for (e.g. procrastination), and spreads made up with the help of the SpreadMachine deck, which has a lot of interesting prompts.
