What are your thoughts on money spells?

Hi everyone! I am pretty new to witchcraft. I know money spells are a thing, but I feel a little awkward about it. All my life I’ve been on the poorer side, so I could definitely use a little boost. But I kind of feel guilty and greedy asking the universe for money. Things like love or growth and such are spiritual requests, and I feel fine about that. But I feel like money isn’t spiritual at all and it causes a lot of harm in the world. I’d love to not feel guilty about it. So what are your thoughts on money spells?
(I’m using spells as an umbrella term here, that’s probably not right but idk what else to use. I mean anything magickal that has to do with money)

Sweetie, think of all the horrible people who are currently stinking rich. You know, the ones who inherited millions and yet resent the concept of basic welfare payments to the poor. I’m sure the universe would love to divert some money to a good person for a change.

Stop worrying about whether you deserve it and think about how much you need to achieve happiness. The bigger the ask, the longer it will take to manifest, but keep your focus and keep at it and it will come to you. Just remember to open a path for the money to find you. Whether that is job applications or buying a lottery ticket. The money won’t just fall through your door.

we live in a world where we NEED money to get by. you’re not being greedy by asking for some help. spells don’t work on their own you still have to put effort into your goal. for example you work hard at your job and a spell could help you get a promotion. but definitely don’t do the spell until you’ve cleared this up in your head because if your intent will be clouded you might get some weird results.

I think what many people neglect when doing money spells is that they in fact still have to work and contribute for it. And also that abundance and prosperity do not only or always mean money. Here’s what I have written in my book of shadows in regards to money and prosperity spells:

“Do you define prosperity as a dollar amount? Or do you think of it as a state of being, such as living comfortably? Does abundance mean having more of everything, or enough of everything? Before doing prosperity spells, you need to be absolutely clear in your mind about what it means to you. Ask yourself;

Do you think you’re worthy of prosperity? Do you believe you are valuable? Do you trust the universe to provide for you what you need? Or do you constantly worry? Do you think money is the root of evil? Prosperity consciousness means you wholeheartedly believe what you desire. You know that your good fortune doesn’t take away from anyone else’s. You welcome life of all kinds into your life. You use money to enrich your life and the lives of others.

When performing prosperity magic, remember you must give something in order to ask for something. You must maintain balance and not be greedy. Prosperity spells require energy, work, and consistency.”

Well first of all, I see nothing wrong with aspiring to be financially comfortable, or even wealthy. Even if it just helps you enjoy life more, I have no issue with that, but if you want to help others it can also help you do so. It’s easier to donate money if you have extra cash, it’s easier to volunteer if you’re not working long hours just to get by, and it’s easier to stand up for others at work if you’re not dependent on that job.

I also don’t necessarily see money workings as “asking the universe for money”, but we might just have different ideas about spells. If I’m involving spirit(s) in my work, I give them an offering in exchange, so I don’t see the issue with asking for money or anything else that’s in their domain. If I’m drawing power some other way, then I don’t see it any differently than networking or wearing a nice outfit to an interview. It’s just one more action I’m taking towards success.

I also grew up on the poorer side, but went to university with quite a few actual rich kids… that pretty much destroyed any guilt I would have about these things (outside of directly sabotaging someone else). But if you still feel guilty/weird about it, you could promise to donate some percentage of the money you get after the spell succeeds. Call it an offering to the universe.

Time for prosperity spells is new moon to full moon. I do prosperity with every moon cycle I can. I live in America, money is necessary for survival. I do this as part of my life, asking the universe to help me survive on my own. I ask for help with different things each month, but they’re all to help me with whatever financial or material concerns I have. It’s not selfish to want to survive 🙂

They are fun but I don’t do them anymore. I had a relative pass away and leave me money. Got offered a good job but was far away from home. Found some money and spent it but found out a roommate was missing it. I wasn’t specific when asking where that money came from and got some in not the greatest ways. If I do ask it’s usually more about a bargain or helping stop something that causes a lot of money. IE; finding a bus ticket for work so I don’t have to drive.

Money is… a thing. A concept. And as a concept it has it’s own spirit. The spirit of money is often maligned because of it’s corruptive ability. But too much of anything corrupts, it’s just human people haven’t evolved to inoculate themselves from corruption as a species.

But we can as an individual protect ourselves from the bad side of money. Through discipline. It takes discipline to make money and it takes discipline to save money. Through discipline you will learn to value money but also to respect it. It’s a thing, it’s not good or bad. It’s nice to have and it can be taken from you. It is not required like air or water, but it is required.

It’s not the thing itself, it’s what you do with it. Use that discipline to save money and put it towards worthy endeavors. Synagogues, churches, and mosques would be unable to function without money. So it’s not like it doesn’t have a spiritual purpose.

i personally rather start with other spell work for confidence, energy, attraction, clarity to fuel a base to attain money. rather than go straight in and be discouraged.
