What does it mean to read someone?

I’ve recently just joined this sub because I find it quite intriguing and interesting and I’ve seen a lots of people post about reading people and was just wondering what they mean exactly by that?

To read someone is to tune into their energy. You can get general ideas of mood and life standing. Reading a person can be different depending on the psychic as psychics have different skill sets.

Consent is important for this as well, it’s considered rude to just start telling someone about themselves without checking in that they’re comfortable with that, or in mixed company or even worse (to some) reading a 3rd party who doesn’t even know they’re being looked into energetically. Different practitioners will have different ethics on 3rd parties so there’s no one right way for everyone but generally speaking it’s always a good idea to check in on consent.

Different psychics can tap into different things about a person but I am able to read how a person is overall, like are they cool or toxic? Since this is the main thing I look for so I know if it is safe to be near someone, even in a public setting, this is my strongest and most important way to read people. I read people’s energy easily, even complete strangers. I know who is safe, pleasant, neutral, dangerous.

I play a game where I read food delivery people. Just by someone delivering my food, I sometimes get strong pleasant energy, negative energy, or just neutral energy. I also can sense a dangerous or toxic person immediately and know to stay as far away from that person as possible. Warning bells go off in my head and I feel really repulsed by their energy. Some people’s energy is really strong but most people are neutral. I sense more strongly positive energy from people with strong energy than strongly negative which is good.

I can also see what their talents are and what kind of career or hobby a person should pursue but it’s annoying because my friends don’t listen to me when I suggest something that I know will be really good for them and they will be successful at. I don’t push it though and only gently suggest once or twice and drop it since people need to figure stuff out for themselves unless they ask for my advice.

I can also see people’s shadow side, what they are hiding from themselves. I can tell immediately if someone has been abused as a child or is in a abusive relationship. I can also tell how they are dealing with that, are they working through it or lashing out in harmful ways? I can also spot abusive people immediately, whether it’s emotional abuse or physical abuse.

For children, I can tell what they will be good at and what type of career they would enjoy most when they get older. I can also see what habits they need to break so that they are happier and more pleasant to be around when they get older. I can also tell if someone is lying or not, if they are holding information back, and if they are attracted to someone. Part of this is reading body language or someone’s eyes but there is also more that comes with it. Like the body language/eye language is a jumping off point but then I see more details. Other times, I am reading energy and not paying attention to body language/eyes at all.

I also sometimes get “flashes” of something about a person, it can be something that happened in the past or something that is most likely going to happen in the future. The last flash I got was in the supermarket when I saw a kid and his mom. I got a flash that the kid was going to be a very important scientist. I really wanted to tell the mom but didn’t want her to think I was nuts, so I didn’t say anything. I only share my visions if someone asks. Most of the time I keep it to myself and just do little “exercises” to strengthen my ability. I mainly use my power to read to protect myself and stay away from harmful, toxic people.
