Hi! I am VERY new to witchcraft, I haven’t done much, mainly been researching, so I’m sorry if I come off dumb.

But I recently saw something about love witches and it very much resonated, it had to do with divination about your own and other’s love lives, shadow work about self-love and your love languages, spell crafting to help with self-acceptance, self-love, and inner peace, and working with Aphrodite.

It said a couple of other things about ‘realizing you’re a love witch’ that very much resonated as well. Every time I try to look anything up things about the movie Love Witch just show up. Does anyone have any resources or books or anything where I can look more into this or would anyone be willing to type up info for me?

No such thing. Witchcraft is—like any other system of magick—a complete system that addresses all of reality. You can have a particular resonance with various parts of that reality but magick itself is *complete* and *whole*.

As a rule of thumb…trends on WitchTok usually don’t have much to do with reality.

Okay a lot of black & white comments here.

While Witchcraft can be and is all encompassing, it is a large chonk of information to take in at once. So if breaking down the different types of magic, the primary elements you want to work with and deities, what you want to specialize with, etc. you feel drawn to, it is more than okay to call yourself whatever type of witch you want.

    However!

I fully agree against labeling yourself to a portion of your Magick.

I’ll give you a nice example: a heart surgeon, specialized in newborn arterial malformations will be that, but they will be a heart surgeon, then a surgeon, then a doctor, then someone who has studied all of medicine.

So while it is perfectly okay to *specialize* in something, do not let it close you off and limit you to a label, especially one you saw on tik tok/insta. And especially one that only gives you a set number of “rules” you should follow.

Magic is personal – research, study, compare information, proofread information, come up with your own deductions and analysis, use your intuition, and then… Specialize in whatever kind of craft you have built/want to build for yourself.

Becoming a witch does not happen in a week. You already are a witch – build your skill, knowledge and learn how to work with the energies around you. Then call yourself a potato with, if you will.

    Hope this helps!

There is no such thing as a “Love Witch”. Every week, somebody makes up a new name for a type of witch, to pin a label on themself and others. All those labels do is cause people to be locked into a small subset of the craft, and never venture outside of that because *BLANK* witches don’t do any other kinds of magic. Free your mind, and the rest will follow. BB.

It’s true there there are no such labels as “love witch,” “crystal witch,” “sea witch,” etc., but I don’t think that keeping a label in mind is inherently an idea that locks you down. When one is starting out, the amount of information can be overwhelming and you may need to tailor your learning specifically to yourself.

Your claiming of the title “love witch” may give you a direction to go in, like a trellis that helps you grow until you are ready to see how all witchcraft is connected. Just remember that your label is there to describe you, not define you, and the choices you make are for you and are not hemmed in by your chosen label.

I don’t think any witches have to be labeled as anything other than what they wish to be. I consider myself to be on an eclectic path, but I do a lot of work with couples, love & intimacy spells, glamours, etc. In fact, I consider them my specialties. But my recommendation is that you don’t box yourself in with labels.

They might be referring to the artist Veronica Varlow. She refers to herself as “the Love Witch” on social media. She just released a book called “Bohemian Magick” about her Romani-Czech heritage.

They’re nothing. A movie came out called love witch and it got the kids excited, just like when marvel brought out Loki stuff and suddenly everyone was a Loki follower, or that movie with the mirrors came out and everyone lost their shit being scared of mirrors.

This! I’ve been wondering the same. At this local witch shop i often shop at, one of the owners there are a Love Witch. The other one a green witch. They both hate witch TikTok and are very against getting information there.

I’ve tried looking up love witch, but nothing. I suppose you can call yourself whatever you want. You’ll mainly be a witch, but if you want to focus only on one thing you could specify it in your “title”? I consider myself as a Witch, but on the eclectic path. i work with everything. This might change though, and I’m aware and open to that. Working as a Love Witch seems like something very beautiful to me 🙂
