I was told I was an oracle in a past life, and my friend was a seer in her past lives. What is the difference between these two types of psychic?

Following this post because I consider myself a seer. Honestly, never thought about the difference. Idk. I am guessing an Oracle is more skilled tapping in and managing their visions.

As a seer, I haven’t learned how to control my visions as they are some what random and afford me glimpses of a situation. It’s like a puzzle and I have to put the pieces together. For me, none of it is instantaneous.

Maybe I’m wrong but I thought an oracle was like a psychic who can predict things whereas a seer just sees random glimpses of the future not necessarily on command

Technically, there’s not difference in the abilities they use. The difference is in their focus. Keep in mind that the words are really old and bound to different cultures. The Oracles of Delphi were in ancient Greece. Seers might be gypsies (they call the ability to see energy “the sight”), or other traditions. In Japan, there will be different labels attached because there’s no cross cultural pollination with Greece (lol) and the cultural point of view is different. Ki means both spirit and energy, for instance.

They both use clairvoyance to get images, claircognizance to know what the images mean, and then any of several other abilities depending on the individual reader’s strength and preferences.

Oracles read the future. Seers, depending on the culture, read the past, present, and future. That’s one common marketing pitch, anyway. Oracles can read the present and past as well. I think their brand came from predicting the future, especially for military adventures in the old days. Everyone wants to predict the future, which is just another way of saying everyone wants to control the future.

Today, I don’t read the future. It’s not as interesting as you’d think. It’s always changing.

But reading the present, the energy that’s blocking someone from taking their next step, this is fun! I sometimes get to see someone change right before my eyes and those are fun readings.

Credit to /u/cndrow for their brilliantly simple explanation of the difference between seers and oracles. It inspired me to comment.

Personal experience has taught me oracles divine the future; seers divine the present

Want to know the future? Oracle

Want to know what’s going on in your life now, why things are happening to you now? Seer

The seer is that which has inner sight, it sees, it guides in an active state, that medium which offers a window through the imagination. It corresponds to male/positive polarity, electric energy, to the sun. the HERMIT.

The oracle is that which has the inner voice, it speaks, it guides in a passive state, that which emerges from the subconscious as the intuitive word. It corresponds to the female/negative polarity, magnetic energy, to the moon, the HIGH PRIESTESS.

Many oracles are channelers. Many seers are travelers in many planes.

    They’re synonyms.
