In order to maintain his power Elon is anti union. This one issue is so important to him that he is willing to work with today’s fascist Republican party. He’d rather be on the forced birth side than the union side. He’d rather be on the side of racism than the side of unions. He’d rather be in the anti science side than the union side. And science is his brand.
Capitalists like Elon will stand in the way of progress because it undermines their power. In a just and equal world men like him cannot exist and he knows that. So he will fight tooth and nail to defend these unjust systems of oppression because as long as he can convince some of the people that they are better than the others, he can convince them that the others should be payed less. I forget his name, but one of the robber barons of the gilded age said “i can always hire one half of the poor to get rid of the other”. Sometimes that payment is just an endorsement of patriarchy, homophobia, racism, ableism and so on, instead of a literal payment.
