Forums Forums Mediums An odd confession: I don’t like the word “ghost” (or even “spirit” that much). Isn’t “soul” nicer? Sigh

When I think of the other side, I think of my mom, and she is a soul. The woman who gave life to me, my best friend, one of my closest circle that I love so much. She’s visited me so I know she’s still here (even though I’m not a medium) and she is not a ghost. She is a soul without a body. The word ghost just doesn’t encompass us.

When I visit r/NDE and think about the Near Death Experiences other people have had, they never refer to themselves as ghosts. They’re just themselves, floating, and having different experiences of reality. So it must be similar for our loved ones. They still feel like themselves, right?

Anyway, I just had to say that. Just wanted to recognize consciousness in a deeper and more encompassing way.

    Signed,
    A grieving daughter

(Ps. Thank you for being a kind group, I really appreciate this little corner as a haven on the Internet.)

Ghost is better to connotate something unresolved and left behind anyway. Soul is much better, energy personality essence is too wordy XD

I really like thinking of ghost by its etymological roots- it once meant “guest” (or was derived from the word I don’t entirely remember).
