This is true. Mine gives me love bites on my nose. Lil’ bastard drew blood a few times but i get it, my nose is tasty.

cats are like furry little bundles of kinetic energy, they do all sorts of things impulsively to release it even if they don’t mean to do harm. my cat always licks whenever they bite as if to say they’re sorry.

I adopted a cat that was returned 3 times for bite related aggression. Turns out it was literally just his default form of communication, took a lot of time, patience, and eventually a squirt bottle when patience literally left my arm black and blue, but now he only bites if I don’t listen fast enough.

Edit: I feel the need to say that last bit is a joke, while he slips up sometimes he’s much better now. But he did start doing this funny things where he uses “gentle bites” to communicate sometimes. Like people will laugh and be like why is your cat doing that to me it’s weird. And he just wants them to move out of his way usually.

my cat will bite if you play rough with him, and my partner often gets nipped at playfully. I don’t enjoy being scratched nor bitten, even if it’s not meant as an attack, so I back off if he’s getting wound up. not saying either approach to play is right/wrong, just that there are differences.

My cat gives love bites and “your not petting me enough” bites. She has never bit me hard, the only time she actually hurts me is when her nails are too long (my fault) and she does some cat thing. I consider all her bites affection.
