Hello friends, as I study astrology I feel like I am getting more and more comfortable with most of the signs, but Virgo continues to elude me. I have a hard time being able to summarize Virgo in my mind like I can with other signs. Any Virgo folks out there want to help me out? What do you feel like is the essence of your Virgo-ness?

Anxiety! The compulsion to organize and compartmentalize! Virgo rising? The house will be spotless lol. Virgo moon? Sometimes unbearable to sit with chaotic emotions, uncomfortable with lack of certainty. Virgo signatures are kin to the symbol of the witch, herbs/tinctures/spells etc. Precision, but not necessarily in the upward-mobility Capricorn way, more like a deep attention to detail, everything-in-its-place way. Sometimes associated with the 6th house – health, healing, sometimes even hypochondria. Sometimes associated with an inclination to kink 😜 Extremely analytical which can extend to anxiety or compulsion. Intelligent and intuitive for sure – ruled by Mercury, so communication, boundaries, etc are big themes. Any time I’m a bit boggled by a sign, I always look to the opposite to sign for clues (for the Virgo example, look to Pisces). See what qualities are opposing to the qualities of Pisces, and you might get closer to understanding some Virgo qualities. But anyways those are some of the key signatures that immediately come to mind.

Good luck cause we don’t even understand ourselves.

Virgo quirks are funny, usually it’s like there’s a big gap between how we’d like to be and how we think we are, and neither of those seem to come close to how others perceive us.

I think we have a lot in common with gemini but all the chaotic energy is turned inwards.

Deeply misanthropic, reflexively suspicious of extroverted people. Something I really can’t stand is the feeling of not being understood or heard, like if I share something with you (especially with regards to advice) and you do the opposite, or show that my opinion didn’t matter at all, you’re probably going to get cut out of my life with no regrets.

I’m… scary good at removing people from my life. Loyal to people who do appreciate me though.

Into all the stuff that they expect us to be into, like herbs, self healing, gardening, home-based things. I also feel like I can do most things better than anyone else and have snapped at my partner for cutting onions wrong.

I think others may have mentioned it before but looking up the virgo/pisces axis is a good way to understand the values and purpose of the archetype. On astroroom.con they describe virgo as the refinement of man and his everyday environment. While pisces is described as the refinement of the soul and its place in the spiritual or imagined realm.

As a Virgo sun, EVERYTHING that all the Virgos are saying in this thread sound like they’re speaking about me. Absolutely spot on.

When I think of Virgo, I instantly think of the tv show House. He’s an obvious Virgo

    Virgo Moon
I’m not really obsessed with perfection because I’m very aware of my faults though I am super hard on myself and those faults. I do think I’m snobby with music, movies and literature and I chase information all the time, I love to know a lot from a lot of subjects, I am obsessed with analyzing things I do feel I have OCD which drives me crazy, I’m ultra polite with people but I will notice every single imperfection you have, it’s very difficult to open up myself emotionally so I’m considered cold, health is definitely top 1 priority

I’m really annoying, critical and anal about shit. But I can also be very organized (meticulous even), smart and analytical af, motherly (this also may tie in with my Cancer moon), clean. I like to dress neatly and love neutral or warm colors, and I do look really youthful which I’ve heard is a trait of Virgo rising. (I’m almost 30 and I get confused for a teenager still)

Highly self aware but also self conscious. Virgos study and pay attention to everything, really trying to learn and understand how things work, who people are etc. Virgos absorb information and observe. They analyze, assess and then apply what they know. They’re very diligent, patient and hard working. They don’t boast or brag nor are they performative, so they can be seemingly hard to get to know – but if you’re curious and know how to read them, they unfold and blossom magnificently as the picture becomes clear.

Virgo = overthinkers, full of anxiety. They have such a deep seated need to be liked by people all the time. They’re similar to Leos and Libras in that regard. But Leos get people to like them by entertaining them. Libras tend to be overly conciliatory in their dealings with others but tend to be disappointed when others won’t gloss over things to keep the peace like they do.

Virgos hope to get people to like them through acts of service. They love to help people.

They’re honestly very kind people but they have a relentless inner critic, and they can be critical of others too. Virgo is an earth sign so they tend to be steadfast, practical and dependable. Not so easily swayed by emotion or ego or fancy. However it’s also a mutable sign so they tend be softer and less “stubborn” than the other two earth signs. 😂 I’m a Taurus with a cap moon and weirdly enough I’ve only ever dated virgo men, so I’d know.

I’m an Aquarius with Virgo rising. I attract Virgos a lot and love them so much. They’re so misunderstood. Just like us Aquas. They often show love through criticising and trying to improve the people around them. Others may be too sensitive and not open to Virgos constant analysing and nit picking. But Virgos see the capability in other people and want to improve you otherwise they would never bother. I love that they have such a great eye for quality in people and things. That could be misconstrued as being materialistic when really they’re willing to pay money for good quality things which in the end is viewed as practical being those things last. I always turn to them and trust them to tell me “how to do things”. They are a very “know-how” sign. Possessing an endless amount of analytical knowledge. Thats the other side to Mercury, whereas Gemini is the “trivial knowledge” or “book smarts” side of Mercury. Virgos are great with their hands. They often have beautiful, slender, perfectly manicured hands and great, naturally straight, naturally white teeth. Beautiful smiles. They criticise themselves so much. They often have imposter-syndrome. Just like Aqua, but Aqua is more embracive of being different and can help Virgo come out of their depressive, pessimistic shell. When I was younger, at the time every one else was having sex, every Virgo I met was a Virgin until 19/20+ (expect for my mum lol). I love Virgos so much. They can be a pain in my arse sometimes, but I don’t take their criticisms to heart. I learn from them and take them on the chin. Being around Virgos will drastically improve your quality of life. You guys were made for us Aquas xxx

So I’m a Virgo sun. To me personally it’s hard to kind of summarize what is a Virgo because when I’ve talked to other Virgos somethings are similar and others are completely different.

So a lot of the time you may see Virgos generalized as ocd clean freaks, where as for me personally I’m not this way at all! If everything is overly clean 24/7 it makes me nervous, I don’t like living in a pig sty however either, kind of something more in the middle. However despite the mess, I know exactly where EVERYTHING is (my family refers to it as my “messy ocd”). I don’t like cleaning every day, but I do it if I need too, but when I do clean I do love to deep clean because it feels so good to just do a deep clean once in a blue moon.

You may also hear that we’re SUPER organized individuals, honestly it depends for me personally, yes I like to be organized but it goes on and off sometimes I’m going with the flow and other times I’m literally writing down chores in my planner to make sure I have them done (the planner is to help me stay more focused and get things done as well).

I’m not someone who constantly likes telling someone I told you so, but I don’t mind pointing out the facts and I’ve been known to be the brutally honest friend who will be like I love you but here’s the real truth which has made and broken friendships. I’m also someone who while I can hold my own in confrontation, unless it’s a meaningless debate that ultimately won’t cause any fall out or ruin a friendship I honestly try to steer away from conflict unless I’m backed into a corner, if I’m backed into a corner then the claws are out and it’s anything goes if I’m backed far enough in. I’ve been told I’m the mom friend of the group, especially when it comes to anyone who’s drinking or on drugs (which while I’ve been several years sober from drugs and I’m over a full year sober completely from alcohol, I still do have friends who actively participate in both. I’ve been told I’m the one person who is both comforting because I’m there and they know their in safe hands but I’m also annoying because it’s like having their mom right there fretting over them and nagging them when all they want is to unwind and let loose)

I can be critical of others although I try not to be overly critical, but the person I’m most critical of is myself. I’m overly stubborn to the point of being to hard headed for my own good. I’m someone who while forgiveness is obtainable, it’s very slim chances to obtain it and I have been known to hold grudges for an overly long amount of time, and I never forget past transgressions no matter how small or how big they may seem. I get very obsessed and engrossed in things that interest me to the point of knowledge overloading myself on them, and I enjoy sharing the knowledge I’ve learned although 9/10 times most people do not want nor care for this knowledge and tend to shut me down which leads to me feeling very closed off and like the things I’m interested in are stupid or no one else would enjoy knowing about them. I tend to be a very cautious and reserved individual, but have been told I can be the life of a party despite being the mom friend and that I have a good heart that’s to good for my own well being and that 9/10 times I want desperately to see the good in other individuals even at the expense of myself (unless that other person is me, then I never seem to see the good in myself hence the over criticalness of myself).

Virgos from not only my experience but the experience of others I’ve talked to that have interacted with them, or are also virgos themselves seem to constantly bring up the fact we are extremely observant. We may not always seem like we are actively engaging but we are always observing even if we’re nose deep in something else, especially if it’s a setting we aren’t familiar with then we are observing and taking in everything. Sometimes we will voice these observations and other times we will keep it to ourselves until when or if a need for them to be voiced is needed. Which I think leads to a lot of the “I told you so” stereotype of virgos is the fact that they voice observations usually after some type of fall out that they kept private whether because they knew they would be brushed off or wanted to wait to see if the observation would be proven true (to not cast a guilty verdict before there’s enough info), and because of this it can come off as a “I told you so”.

From my experience and from what I’ve been told by others, virgos also tend to be very loyal individuals who will not only go to war for those they care about but will defend them wholeheartedly (although they will admit brutal truths in the process which I think makes it difficult to be friends with them because sometimes as much as you want that loyal friend you also don’t want them pointing out 8 million observations that you failed to notice or brushed off that feel like their just rubbing salt in the wound when in reality they mean very well).

One flaw I have noticed in both myself and other virgos, is a lot of virgos seem to fall prey very easily to addictions and have various reasons as to why their using that addiction to drown out other things.

Virgos are (in my opinion) one of the most misunderstood signs. They get a bad rep for being crabby, snobby, uptight, etc but really underneath it at all they are easily one of the most selfless, loving, soft and kindhearted signs I know. I think they’re just really good at knowing their worth and setting boundaries so to most of us (especially those who are underdeveloped) it can appear negative. I think a lot of their irritability comes from seeing people make choices out of lack of self love and that’s where their usual “everyone is so stupid” attitude comes from. But in the end, they just want the best for everyone and they want to heal people so it’s really frustrating for them to see others continuously go down the wrong path. The negative side is that those traits CAN turn narcissistic but, like any sign, there’s good and bad people. It’s also funny because every Virgo I’ve met is really hard on themselves which breeds self doubt but they also have this high sense of self value. It’s really paradoxical and complicated which is part of the reason I feel they’re so misunderstood.
