Ive been drawn to and using my tarot cards for almost 10 years. I use trusted tarot to look up the meanings and I write down all the cards I pull so I can look back on them.

I feel like I’m missing a lot of points. Especially when I do large spreads. I get really confused at trying to piece together what I think the message is. I try really hard but yeah I feel like messages are slipping through the cracks.

If yall have a resource that would help please let me know!!

Edit: thanks to everyone who replied! I didnt expect to get a lot of answers so I really appreciate yall šŸ„ŗšŸ’• I feel bad I feel like I cant think of responses to everyone so I will just say thank you, I read every comment and I learned a lot of useful tips. I hope this helps anyone who is also an autistic tarot reader too. Bb!!šŸ¤ž

I have ADD TYPE 2 and I rely in my readings only on images. With time i developed certain concept on my own on each card.

Why use elaborate spreads if they are confusing? What’s wrong with the basic 1, 2, or 3 card pulls?

Having practiced for 10 years with them, you are clearly dedicated and I have no doubt that you understand the cards on their own, maybe even in small groups. I suspect that you know as well as I do that a concise 3 cards and the right question can do wonders, so what are you doing that demands big crazy spreads?

Like you I am also on the spectrum, and I know that I personally get the most mileage out of my tarot practice when I keep it concise for the simple reason that I struggle with the abstract interactions between cards. It is of course not my place to discourage you from larger spreads, and you have more experience than I, but could you somehow practice in a way that makes it more accessible to you?

    Hey sister <3

I know already a lot of witches here have offered amazing support but I might add some historical context to help.

The original form of Romani-vision tarot was actually a 4 person card game in which players would get dealt these cards with ‘story scenes’ from epics and witchcraft fables and then try to make the best story out of them. People watching the game would then appraise the best and most engaging story teller. As we now know, turns out when they told these stories via orator (speaking) they happened to start coming true. Thus it was recognized as a divination tool.

These days we still tell a story but a lot of people do get lost in the ‘meanings’ of symbols when in reality life does not have symbols everyday. A lot of our tarot readers forget we are all stories, not symbols and imagery.

Perhaps maybe you have the gift of seeing tarot in a unique way much like the old Romani readers and you can develop a gift of telling a story and seeing how that turns out relating to the enquirer? Just a thought – other witches happy to receive more advice here. Hope this helps x Keep your head up and remember no amount of books will tell you what your intuition is šŸ™‚

For example, if I pull 6 of wands, 8 of wands, then Knight of cups – I could see a clear story forming here:

We have a victorious leader on a white horse being celebrated by raised wands. They have crowned him ina victory wreath. However now those wands have been cast in the air, almost like as though they are spears. And now that same victorious leader is riding back out on horse in armor, holding a chalice (symbolising water which is emotions) meaning he may need to meet some situation or someone who will bring an emotional reaction from him. Perhaps this is a declaration of a new battle? Pull more cards, the story builds….

Iā€™ve found oracle cards to be the perfect solution for this! I struggle to comprehend the meanings of tarot no matter how hard I try, and I just end up either confused, or angry šŸ˜… but oracle cards are more straightforward and allow you to piece together the message much easier.

I really like like James Van Praaghs ā€œMessages from your Guidesā€ deck, but obviously whatever speaks to you!

I think you just need to find a new set of cards maybe.
