So is it just the home you’ve grown up in, or any home, or anybodies home who you live with (even if the house is theirs not yours). What could it signify exactly? Because if it’s basically ANYTHING that you call home, then wouldn’t that be kinda too subjective and unreliable?

4th house doesn’t just mean “home,” it also speaks to your ancestry, your family’s roots and background. In ancient astrology it’s associated with “father.”

I see the 4th house as a deeply historical house to your family’s past, information you can use to set up your current home life.

As @_linonymous said, it is related to the father figure and the family roots. There is a deep historical meaning behind, like a mark, that can be used wisely for a transgenerational work.

It is indeed suggestive! Because it is actually how the native lived his childhood from his point of view.
For example : you look at the chart of siblings and you notice that they don’t have the same 4th house. But they have the same parents and they grew up in the same house, right? Imagine one of them has an Aries 4th house and the other has an Aquarius 4th house. The first one (Aries 4H) could had a difficult childhood with violence and authoritarian parents ; it can also tell that his father was a military or a professional baseball player as Aries is related with war or sport.
The second one (Aquarius 4H) could had a absent parent since Aquarius is related to freedom with an individualism challenge.
Now, on the one hand, the Aries 4H grew up knowing his father being a professional baseball player and he admired him so much. He would even play with him from time to time to have fun. On the other hand, the Aquarius 4H grew up not being close to his father since he spent all his time touring for matches. Therefore, he didn’t really know him… felt like an absent parent.

-> Same family, same father, same childhood house. But the situation wasn’t experienced the same way for the two siblings. So to answer you : it is suggestive! Even if it can reveal true and reliable informations about the native and his relationship to family roots.

You will probably get a few different answers but this is my take:

When it comes to 4H they are all connected. There is a spiritual and physical component to 4H because it’s one of the karmic houses so it’s trying to express an idea of origins in respect to karmic cycles and how that manifests both physically and spiritually in our own roots. It’s broad by design bc it’s trying to explain a lot for a relatively abstract concept.

I like to think more of 4H as being the roots of a tree in an allegorical sense. Consideration for its environment is there but the generational seed that they’re from and the soil they sit in all matter for what the tree grows into later in life. Ultimately when the tree dies it will also return to those roots and nourish future generations to come.

The feeling of home, the feeling of closeness, how we were nourished and in turn grow to nourish others.

At least to some extent probably every one. I have Neptune in the 4th, about which I read, it can indicate water damage to the place you live. Which has indeed happened to almost every place I had rented or otherwise lived in. Once by me putting out a fire and causing more damage than the flames themselves.

    Simply put… both.
We are where we came from no matter how hard we work at growing past it. I have Aries 4th house and as a child it was violent and traumatic… now it’s what I’m passionate about and where you see my drive and fire come out. Two sides of the same coin.

    Both.

Your home away from home is in the 9H (travel far and stay there or relocate away from your hometown) the places you stay near by show up in your 3H (ie short trips).

So when you move, look to your 9H and see how it interacts with your 4H, because when I said both, this is why.

It represents the mother and early childhood (Cancer rules the fourth house) but I also think it represents a feeling of home or a safe haven all through your life.

The fourth house is associated with whichever parental figure emotionally nurtured you (not necessarily the mother), what you experience within your home but it is also the darkest part of your chart, making it this private place of your deepest emotional core and rooting. It can pertain to the many different locations you have lived but it goes beyond that as well.

My 4th house is Pisces/Aries cusp. My step father was an extremely abusive, sadistic, psychopathic drug addict and my biological mother is a bipolar alcoholic. When I was a child, my step father and biological mother lost custody of me and my siblings and we were placed in the foster care system. My religious maternal grand parents got me and my siblings out of the foster care system and received legal guardianship. I currently live at a homeless shelter and I’ve been fantasizing about joining the Peace Corps.

The 4th house is usually family roots, childhood, home you were born into, being one of the angular houses, home you create moves more towards the 5th succedent house, being the house of children, you create
