Speaking for myself, but I would imagine others might agree this. I live in a deeply conservative area and am a queer/trans person. When I see something like this or a pride flag it means a lot. It can be isolating and seeing people out there showing support is wonderful.

I live in a very conservative area too, but I still wear a trans flag mask with my pronouns on it to work every day. Last week a woman left the store, turned around almost as soon as she was out the door, and came back to tell me “I just wanted you to know I’m really happy that you can be out and proud here of all places, I know it’s not an easy thing to do around here.” I almost cried on the spot because she’s one of our regulars and I could tell it was something she’s wanted to say to me for a while. It always means a lot when customers compliment my mask like that because it makes me feel less alone.

I was at a comic convention in Florida this weekend, saw someone cosplaying as Marvin The Martian, but instead of the Martian flag it was a pride flag, everyone loved it!
