We have a pride flag and BLM sign up in a fairly conservative state (albeit a somewhat liberal area of that state). Every year multiple tweens or teens trick or treating tell us they like our flag and it makes them feel safe. That’s exactly why I keep it up.

So, I’ve been getting a lot of those “a concerned redditor has reached out” messages…. I think there’s a hand full of haters here not able or willing to post or message directly. To anyone that may be “concerned” for me, don’t worry, that protester and the response to this post has me feeling quite well thank you😘

I am glad that my neighbors here in the Midwest have gay and trans flags up. Kinda helps me feel the area out.

We see scattered flags here in TN, the newest base of stupidity against anyone not WASP and/or rich.white.christian.male – you know…klansmen. My beloved and I are of the community here and while folks here are easy to support…I’m scared for them. This place is turning into hell on earth for anyone not fitting “their type” aka rich.white.christian.male.

We’d move but where does one go?

I love seeing LGBTQ flags in my town. 20…hell, 10 years ago it would have been unthinkable.

Every now and then I think shit might not be as bad as I think it is.

Before covid I used to do craft shows and I was selling rainbow flags and pentagrams at a rural mall–one woman called me brave. I gave away a bunch of flags to some teenagers (I always give away pride merch to young people who need it and don’t have any money). Wasn’t hassled by anyone.

I might recognize the area. Not interested in violating privacy but could you buy a donut to your right in this pic?

I don’t blame anyone living in a bad area for not wanting to display flags or be public about their identity, whether they’re concerned for their safety or worried they might lose their job, but it does make me feel some hope to see it.

I used to live in NKY a few hundred feet from a megachurch, on the main road into Cincinnati and I hung a pride flag from my balcony overlooking it 😈 Anytime I brought a new friend up there they would go like “Oh YOU’RE the one with the flag!!” and i knew they were cool hahaha

I’m a conservative in the Midwest. You can fly your flag in my neighborhood anytime. Peace.

I live in a fairly tolerant/liberal area in the Midwest and I still feel all warm inside when I see stuff like this! Never stand down y’all!!!!
