Ok but look the ants keep eating our stuff and I will absolutely not tolerate a mouse in the garage.

    The spiders can stay.

i wish insects had the same sense of interspecies personal space as like mammals. like fr please give me the same wide berth that bears give me. i acknowledge your very important place in the ecosystem but please please don’t touch me ever.

my wife and i just moved in with my mom bc of a family situation. very very old house, has a BIT of a bug problem tbh. anyway found a spider in my childhood room that i just could not bring myself to kill bc i saw its web around the corner of my old desk and i’m like damn… i haven’t lived here for years now, i can’t walk in its house and just crush it or move it… it skittered away and while it does admittedly kinda freak me out to not know where it went off to, i hope it does okay here. animals have a way of getting in here, and i think if it weren’t for the trauma and the area i’d prefer it to any of the other places i’ve lived bc of that

That’s the most zen shit I’ve heard in ages. I’m seriously going to meditate on this. The white box is the invader.

Most ants are fine. But spiders? They can only stay if a) they do not wish to harm me and b) they stay to their designated corners. I made my husband kill a spider recently because it looked very close to a brown recluse. I couldn’t decide if it was a brown recluse or cellar spider. My cat has learned to “save me” from bugs so the scary spider had to go before she found it and decided to be my white knight. Daddy long legs are always allowed.

My white box was *specifically* designed to keep the forest, the mountains, and the deserts separate from me.

Like what the fuck does this even mean.

The local foxes, birds and deer understand that my backyard is a safe place to hang out and sometimes get a good meal.

I accept my spiders, but I had a pharoah ant infestation and have some feelings about ants.

I’m fine with spiders, but we’ve had some really bizarre ant issues.

Sometimes we’ll find them in the coffee pot or they’ll make off with some of our fruit.

One time I saw a few ants running off with a floor tile.

And then there was this one time a group of crazy ants decided that the wifi router was a good place to build a nest. It was still running.

So, yeah. I don’t have a problem with spiders but ants arouse suspicion.

I do my best to escort insects back outside to nature where they belong. If they are in my house, they’ve obviously gotten lost.

If I turn off all my lights and open a door towards the sunlight, flies fly right out the door. Most others will walk right onto a piece of paper where they can be carried outside and released.

Mosquitos are where I draw the line.
