In the days since roe, I’ve seen a lot of people parading their power. The men have been the most scary, but i expected it. By far, the most disappointing have been the women around 50-60 who have been looking down on, or downright angry at me for being child free and for being unmarried. Their level of disdain is palpable.

Im in my mid 30s no kids. I get that all the time at this point. I say its because I was a teacher young (paraprofessional at 22) and that usually ends the conversation. Like no. I dont want kids. I had live birth control young. They’re monsters at 13 and up. No thank you 😂

I’m guessing that they would have preferred your lifestyle and they made a different choice. Unfortunate ,they are small minded and are mad at themselves and at you for making that choice.

I don’t get it either. Not childfree by choice [unless you count wanting to stay alive a choice!] My normal response has been “Well, after 2 disasterous miscarriages that almost killed me, my doctor advised I get my tubes tied at 24 because a third pregnancy and loss would have killed me. So it is not by choice, we were trying to have children. Thanks for opening up old wounds.” Turn and walk away. Usually left the nasty old cows sputtering.

I wear a mask still a lot of the time and I’ve noticed people getting mad at me for it more often again. They are feeling powerful in every category😭

It keeps getting worse. It has been for awhile. Trump’s candidacy for president emboldened them. When he won, it got worse. With Roe being overturned, the ante was upped yet again. It will keep getting worse unless there are real consequences for disgusting behavior.

Yeah, men are being scary here. I am having some personal problems I’m not gonna share here but lemme tell you. This has made people with zero claim to your time or emotional labor think you owe them. The 4th of July was extra dang loud. Driving is horrible because people are more aggressive than normal and parking sucks because of all the huge trucks backing into stalls poorly. I’ve seen an uptick of distain from older conservative women too.

Even over here in Colorado, the creeps are starting to come out, my cousin’s car isn’t working so she’s been taking the bus and men are following her in the grocery store, to and from the bus, luckily I told her to call her husband, or who ever was home to meet her at the stop near her house to meet her at the stop, I’m sure they would’ve followed her home to.
I haven’t gone out anywhere but work and the grocery store, and I stopped dressing in my goth clothes and doing my makeup, it’s just the regular xxl tshirts and basketball shorts, cuz I’m scared to piss the wrong man off for existing, I have to walk 2 miles there and back, I don’t have a license to drive, I carry a knife and pepper spray, but I’m looking into buying a taser to.

I am a white female in my 60’s. I grew up in a red state, living in a blue state. I’ve been married, divorced, and had a kid.
I am sick about what has happened with Roe being overturned. Who are these f*ckers who think they have any business telling women what they are or are not allowed to do reproductively? Everyone I know, male, female, straight, gay, or other, is mad as hell about this.
They think they know better what is right for me? My daughter? Any woman? More than a woman’s doctor? Not a chance. Every woman should be free to choose without guilt, whether to continue a pregnancy or not.
Now they are looking at striking down birth control? LGBTQ rights? Same sex marriage? How long did we fight for basic human equality for all of us no what orientation? For basic female healthcare? These nuts are tearing down everything we have fought for for so many years. Will they strike down ADA statutes next? Minimum wage? Women’s voting rights? Equal pay?
Abolish the Supreme Court or set reasonable terms for them to serve, age limits, and make them elected officials voted on by all the people. I would love for the government to see what the majority of the people really think.

It is getting NASTY out there. Seriously, other posts and those responding to those posts have noticed a considerable uptick in deplorable behavior from all directions:
1. Slut-shaming incidents are waaaaay up. People who wouldn’t have bothered with what any of us were wearing or how we presented before are suddenly very confrontational. It’s a lot like those countries facing a fundamentalist takeover in the 70s/80s.
2. Harassment, in general, is occurring far more often and to more of an extreme. Some of what our sisters have reported just on this sub is frightening. There’s a lot less civility and a lot more hostility, especially in red states. You’re not safe in public, no one is intervening.
3. Even on Reddit, I’m getting degrading and violent messages and chats – I think all the mods especially are working overtime to keep evil forces at bay.
I keep thinking about Berlin in the 1930s, and other than the runaway inflation and tanked economy, there was an extraordinary amount of freedom and acceptance and creativity. (It was the launch of the Bauhaus, for heaven’s sake.) Then all the people who were unhappy and uncomfortable with all the change and progress and the culture steering away from traditional values allowed fascism to foment. We know how this story ends.
