Inhereited a 4″ pin, but it had a little separate gold ball that popped onto the pointy part so you could not hurt yourself. Came off quickly, almost lost it a few times.

I just recently watched a YouTube video by Art Deco examining a painting of a young woman being harrased on a train. It spoke of hat pins and made me want one on principle.

You can still buy the findings and bits to make hatpins. I’ve made a few with beads as an alternative to broaches.
