Ah I miss being able to do this. But I imagine being seen to be friends with an obvious trans person probably increases the chance of things going sideways and once I pass, having another guy pop in probably wouldn’t be very comforting, either.

Don’t use the “want a smoke” as excuse to break away. Last time I tried that for a friend the choad was like “oh can I bum one?”

Omg… hogging all the awesome people. Boyfriend being a cute tease (that’s only okay if he’s with you) and getting who I’d want as my new friend coming in to help since she didn’t know.

I’d glow all day if I experienced this. But I’d also be conflicted who to leave with.

Oh no, this is for sure a real thing that happens. I’ve made plenty of temporary friends on the train or waiting for a bus or whatever when I see a woman getting cornered.

This happened at the gym with my husband, he smacked my ass as he walked by and I flicked him off because… why not. A manager came over and asked him to leave for harassing another person. I had to come over and explain that it was okay. My husband is still embarrassed about the whole thing. I think it was hilarious. And pretty cool that management immediately came to my defense.

We have a universal look, we all know it when we see it and we all know what to do. It’s one of those things that is just innate in us.

I’ve made a few friends, being a long lost friend for girls at bars being harassed by the regular jack-offs. Got to a point at one bar I could shoot the bouncers a look as I was walking over to visit with my friend I hadn’t seen in years.

Y’all if your instincts are telling you to GTF away from someone….do it. Your instincts are not wrong and I have heard far too many stories of how ladies knew something was off with a guy…but didn’t listen to their instincts for the sake of “being nice.”

You don’t have to be nice to anyone, you can be a bitch. Be. A. Bitch.

Nah girls actually do this. I’ve done it for a girl that’s uncomfortable by walking up and being like “hey baby, you ready to go?” She bought me a drink for the help

Every time I read one of these accounts I get all teary eyed. If this happened to me, regardless of the context, I’d probably scare the other woman by crying at her about how touching it is that she’s looking out for strangers.

Love this. Something similar happened to my mother once, we were out grocery shopping and my dad made a stupid pun as dads tend to do and she jokingly called him an asshole, a very nice lady came up and quietly asked my mom and I (I’m a feminine looking person) if we were okay, we all had a good laugh about it after we explained that he was my dad and he would never hurt a fly much less harass a woman lol, my mom and I appreciated it though. Women protecting women is always wonderful to see

Difference in being a man and a woman. It took me a long second to understand what the girl was saying. Patriarchy fucks your brains and segregates your experience so that you can’t even understand what another’s is like sometimes.

Edit: damn, lots of comments that are pretty fucked pooping on here and deleted before I can see them. Either way, go fuck yourself neckbeards. I said what I said because I was legitimately confused for a while and then realized it was a rescue mission. Which is how patriarchy works. I’ll be glad when it’s ashes.

I remember a few years ago, I was in a public shower at work and someone saw bruises all over my back and chest. The next few days, a bunch of girls who didn’t even know me would check in on me, ask if I was okay, and several volunteered to come with me to get help. I told all of them that those were bruises from all the contact sports I was doing and I bruised like a peach lmao. But goddamn did I appreciate the hell out of all of them. It meant a lot that so many people gave a damn.

It did later become a whole thing where someone accused my partner of hitting me, but even then. When people heard about it, they came to both mine and my partner’s defense. Sometimes the world can feel dark, but I always remember that during that whole incident, people that didn’t know me from a hole in the ground came to help me just because they saw I needed help.
