GuestJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:28 amI would say so, unless you can’t stop questioning it. If you keep having “should i tho?” Feelings, better to get a color you feel secure with

GuestJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:28 amI would say yes. They look black to me, but itβs all about intention! If you feel as though you shouldnβt, donβt. But if you still feel like they will serve their purpose, go for it π

GuestJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:28 amYou could also use white.. color specificity is usually just linked to our subconscious recognizing the intent. How much belief and intent you also put into it matters the most.

GuestJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:28 amTrue black in nature doesnβt exist, itβs always a dark colour. So usually black will be slightly purple or slightly brown – usually.

GuestJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:28 amAs others have said, intention matters much more than color. I’ve had protection rituals that worked just as well with black, white, and yellow candles when I was broke and homeless and used what I could get my hands on. It’s all in how you feel about it, as is much of Magick.

GuestJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:28 amHow many different colored candles do you think the old healer lady living at the edge of town had? What did people do before black and purple and grey and gold and green and pink candles existed? They made do with what they had. The candles main purpose is to bring fire into the working. The color correspondence is a bonus way of getting your mind ti make an easy connection with what youβre doing so that you can better βfeelβ the spell.
I feel like all this emphasis on highly specific correspondence needs is a capitalistic Amazon effect. Multi colored candles werenβt a thing that just anyone could buy on Amazon before, so what color your candle was didnβt matter, but now that theyβre easily available, suddenly it matters so much that people wonβt do a spell if they only have extremely dark purple candles bc it calls for black?
Or things like βI donβt have red thread, can I use red yarn?β Or βI donβt have twine, can I use thread?β Or βI donβt have dragons blood ink to draw the face on my poppet, can I use normal ink?β Yes, yes, yes!
Itβs like random things keep getting invented to be sold and *then* they come up with some kind of magical use for them, and then since those things exist and have a use people put them into spells to make use of them. But I donβt think it was ever meant to be like βand if you donβt have this exact thing, you canβt do the work.β Itβs more like βthis thing exists in a color that corresponds to what Iβm doing, so since I have this item in this color, Iβm going to add it to the working.β

GuestJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:28 amThey look just fine, however if your instinct thinks they are purple then try use white. White candles can substitute for any candle colour when it comes to spell making. hope this helps π

GuestJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:28 amIt is black however donβt stress out too much because color magic is a new thing witchcraft began with just plain white, or off white candles. Adding color does not make the magic, only enhances it a teeny bit. 90% of the time I use plain white as I burn spells quite often and sourcing colors can be tedious and expensive.

GuestJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:28 amAbsolutely — black is absolutely for protection. To wholeheartedly concur with u/kai-ote, black draws in and white repels.
You can draw in protection and safety with black, and conversely you can repel unwanted energies with white.
White is typically used as a general catch-all simply because they’re the most common; three hundred years ago, you’d be hard pressed to find a *good quality* candle in green, red, blue, black, orange, or pink.
These days, we have much more access to candles of various colors but going by age-old traditions of color associations, black is absolutely a color for protection.
