haunted-falloweenMemberI feel like i’m edging to a burn out and shutting down to all emotions. So, my dearest siblings i request that you leave a comment with your latest happy news, hobby, special interest, what you did for Samhain, what are your plans to relax? did you get a curly fry in your regular fries? did your pet make a funny face ? did you have a breakthrough with your craft? I want to hear all about it big or small.
Go to as much or as little detail as you want but keep it happy. I think we all need a smile on our faces and to decompress a little considering the state of the world.

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmWhen my kids first outgrew trick or treating we were too poor to hand out candy. I got to be the house with a giant skeleton AND full size treats this year and I was so excited and happy about I cried.
At first I got 2 kids and their reactions made my dreams come true and I would have completely satisfied if they were it for the night.
In the end, I had 42. My heart is bursting and I feel like I repaid that little social debt from those lean years.
The wheel turns.

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmMy 9 month old appears to be getting his first set of teeth! We discovered this as he tried to gnaw on our dog’s leg this morning.

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmPeople were delightful last night. We met so many neighbors we had not seen in a long time and even some new ones. The kids were all so polite and the costumes were great.

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmMy cat has tolerated my dog since the dog was adopted two years ago. No issues between them but they didn’t hang out together. Over the last month, I’ve found them snuggling together and playing.

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmMy family and I played what we call “Halloween ticket to ride”. We play ticket to ride, but every 5 points is worth a piece of candy. Every completed route is worth 3. Longest train is worth five. I won. We left candy out front for trick-or-treaters since I am very sensitive to loud noises, so repeated ringing of the doorbell would have been torture. I just peeked outside every few minutes to restock and left small amounts so if someone dumped the whole thing in their bag we would have enough for others. In terms of hobbies, I just finished a super cute shirt I was sewing, it’s a purple flowery fabric, 3/4 sleeves with flared ends and pleats on the front. I also finally found a way around my meditation trigger, and am very excited about that.

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmLast night my 12yo daughter dressed up as Queen of the Demons. She had a long, red lace dress, fancy jewelry, black horns and black wings. She was handing out candy and a little girl, maybe 3 or 4 years old, was fascinated by her. She kept starting to leave and then coming back to stare some more. Finally the girl ran up and hugged my daughter’s legs and ran away. I think she thought my daughter was pretty in all her finery, and it tickles me that this little girl was so excited about a demon. It’s like the goth version of a Disney princess encounter. The whole thing was adorable.

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmFor the last two Hallowe’ens, we’ve had less trick or treaters than normal, rain and plagues. We’re also rural and it’s a bit dark.
But this year… I just knew that we’d get more kids. So I made up 45 treat bags and I had some back up candy, and I put on a spooky soundtrack, got my kids ready, sent them out into the night and waited.
Well, we got 46 trick or treaters. I felt like an all powerful sister of the fates, and it was a very magical and spooky night all around.

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmThe seasonal shift from summer to fall seemed to have a bigger than usual impact on my mental health this year. I spent a week, half of it with a friend visiting, feeling drained and with no energy.
Then we went to Six Flags with another friend, and it was like a switch had been flipped–my energy’s back, and I’m feeling so much better! I’d been nervous about being a drag on the trip, and it was such a relief that we all had fun. It gave me life!

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmBurnout is real and I’m exhausted all the time. I just stacked a couple of pantry risers on my desk to make it so I can stand while I’m working. I feel so much better being able to move freely without being slumped in a chair all day. It’s little but it’s working!

GuestNovember 2, 2022 at 6:30 pmWe just added a rescue dog to our family after not having a dog for 5+ years and we were nervous about the extra responsibility but she has been a blessing bringing so much joy to our family. Also our first Halloween in our first house went great! We had some super cute and super polite little trick or treaters. Thank you for posting to help remind me of the little happinesses in my life and to get to read others.
